About the Event
The SATN Social, hosted by ATX Bikes, is a free mountain bike event open to all riders with no registration required. Four routes of 16 to 17 miles each (NORTH/SOUTH/EAST/WEST), totaling 67 miles, will highlight various portions of the 140 miles of single track trail making up the South Austin Trail Network. Between the hours of 8:00am and 4:00pm on Saturday, October 26, riders will depart from the parking lot at ATX Bikes to complete individual routes to earn raffle tickets for prizes, to challenge themselves on the South Austin Trail Network, and, most importantly, have fun! All riders are welcome to participate in the mass start at 8:00am or at any time convenient for them throughout the day. All rides must be completed by 4:00pm to earn raffle tickets; 1 ticket for each completed route. Riders competing for raffle tickets should record their ride using Strava; volunteers will be checking route data and passing out raffle tickets between 3:00 and 4:00. New this year, volunteers will lead social paced rides (average speed 9 mph) from the shop at 10:00am, 12:00am, and 2:00pm. For riders challenging themselves to complete all 4 routes in the allotted eight hours, 67 miles, you will need to average 8.5 – 9 miles per hour.

ADDITIONAL INFO & WHAT TO BRING
There are many ways to do this event, what is important is that you have fun. Most riders will start at 8:00 am and complete as many of the 4 routes as they can then relax and socialize back at the parking lot for the remainder of the day. Others will start and stop their rides at any time throughout the day and return to the shop between 2:00pm and 5:30 to drink, eat, and socialize.
This ride is self supported! Bring plenty of water to store in your car. Sports drinks in an ice chest are a great idea. Food and nutrition for those in between segment rest stops is smart. Extra DRY gloves to switch out, sandals to rest feet at stops and wear after ride, tools and a pump for those mid ride adjustments. All good ideas. All participants are encouraged to bring their own chairs! Also, food, beverages and brews will be provided starting at 2:00pm but BYOB is welcome!
The biggest rule for the event is…to have fun!
Huge thanks to the SATN SMOOTH CREW. Thank them for working so hard getting the trails in perfect shape for this event. Realize that no government entity does anything for any of our single track trails. It’s all good citizen volunteers that do it. Everyone that rides them should feel obligated to give something back at some point, if nothing more than to purposely “ride the sides'' every now and then, to knock back encroaching vegetation. (lecture over!)
WARNING! Mountain Biking is inherently dangerous! There are things that can kill you out here. Be ever diligent in looking out for your own safety!
